Pinch and a punch for the first of the month - and with the end of the first week it means we've hit our target! WOW. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed! If you still want to chip in, there's still three weeks left of the campaign and that means that the money we raise over the next three weeks will go toward the catering budget and having a contingency for when things go wrong (as they always do when you're making a film). I can't believe how close we are to $2000! To raise that amount of money for the film would be astronomical so if you'd like to be a part of it, anything you can spare would be completely amazing! We're shooting on the weekend and a little extra in the kitty wouldn't go astray whatsoever. Thank you so much!

Abby and Max have just met. There's something special between them, both of them can feel it. Still caught in the giddy moment of meeting someone new, they race to tell their best friends all about it. But as Lucy and Des begin to point out the glaring flaws in their best friend's love interest, Abby and Max start to wonder if perhaps going out on a first date isn't such a good idea after all.

who we are.

Hi there! My name is Alli Parker and I'm the writer and director of the comedy short film 'With A Little Help From Our Friends'. I wrote the film last year for the London Screenwriters' Festival Short Script Competition and was keen to write something that would make the audience laugh. So, I decided to write a comedy short about two friends who are trying to convince their best friends not to date each other.

It came off pretty well - it was shortlisted in the competition and then I met an independent producer at the festival itself who was keen to make it. We started development but then the project stalled and, with my background in production managing and assisting, I decided to go ahead with making the film myself.

Fairly soon after that, I met two low-budget filmmakers who were keen to make something different from their usual staple and Jack and Craig came on board as co-producers. With the three of us sharing the producing duties, the film really kicked into gear. We locked in a DOP and camera assistant, cast the four roles in the film and we're very quickly coming up to our scheduled shoot days.

With a small tight-knit crew and a fantastically talented cast, there's only one thing that really needs a bit of extra love and attention before the shoot. The budget. As always.

what we want to do.

I don't know about you, but I love laughing. I think films that make people laugh is the best reaction you can get from an audience. That's why 'With A Little Help From Our Friends' is a short comedy and we want to share the laughs with you. We want to make this film the best it can possibly be and have as many people as possible see it - but to do that, we need your help.

What we'd love to get from you is enough money to cover costs for travel expenses for everyone giving up their time to help us make the film, the hire of lights on set so you can actually see the actors on screen as well as covering the costs in post-production so we can get the film finished, polished and ready to tackle the world.
