Our Story

My name is Heather Dorff and I am a producer, writer, and lead Actress for the short indie psychological thriller 'What They Say'. We wrapped production on May 26th 2011 in Chicago, IL. Through crowd funding and private investors we were able to raise a grand total of 4k that went directly into marketing and making of the film. Now that we have reached post production it is time to continue to market the film, gain additional press/fans, and reach out to investors/fans, once again, to help us get our film into festivals and possibly an official premiere/distribution!

Synopsis:

They thought she had the perfect life; wealthy and privileged, an honor student with her whole life mapped out. What they didnt know was what lied inside of her; pain and anguish; tearing at her until there was nothing left.

Lost and alone, the young women (Heather Dorff), finds solace in the form of a glistening blade, splitting her skin deeply. Her self-indulgent mother and obnoxious sister (Kelsey Zukowski), are completely oblivious to her inner-turmoil. She has long since become numb to the world around her, getting that sensual release, as the razor cuts deeper, watching the blood drip, is all that matters. As soon as the last drop falls, the calm is stripped away from her with it. How far will she go to silence the hunger that now consumes her? Will she be able to regain control of her life, body, and sanity?

Evil lies within. How long will it stay there?

World Premiere, Festivals, Distribution, and possible Future Endeavors:

What They Say is scheduled to have it's world premiere at the 2011 Chicago Horror Film Festival on Sept 25th! The festival is also set to be hosted by lead actress and producer Heather Dorff. From there we are hoping for a 6 month to year festival run then either local premieres in theaters, distribution, or even the possibility of connecting it to an anthology piece which is already in discussion.

We hope to see you at the premiere!

The Impact

With the dedicated crew, talented cast, current footage, - including use of the Red camera for a few very disturbing surreal scenes - unique storyline, and current press already gained, this psychological thriller is destined to impress at festivals; but we need your help to get it there. Without the awesome people that support crowd funding we will not have the means to get our work out there. Our Production crowd funding was a complete success and everyone who donated and got involved will be sure to tell you their money was well spent. The film has been made and is in post so the risk of seeing your dollars go down the drain just isn't there. This is your chance to help and become part of a project and team that is only destined for success and get a few great perks along the way.

What We Need & What You Get

We need to market the film. We need to gain press and fans. We need to get the word out in general. We need to pay those that worked on sweat and tears - and continue to do so - for doing such an amazing job on this project. We need to get this film into festivals and conventions. We need to look into distribution or possibly the anthology piece. All of these things cannot be done without additional funding. You can be the defining factor in making a true piece of art available to the world. This is not a film that will pop up on youtube. This is a project that is festival and buzz worthy and we need to get it there. You can help make that happen.
