Our Story
This idea began as I sat and played a facebook game where I was very aware of what I had to do for the fake coins the game paid me. I was more careful with them than with my bank account! Being an artist as well as a computer chick I was also painfully aware of how few of my friends had any comfort in managing their money.
All I could think was how cool it would be if I could simply play a game and have my money taken care of without having to look at graphs and decide on a budget. Shouldn't financial software see where my money goes and tell me I'm close to doom? If I'm putting in all my receipts shouldn't I see a pretty picture of where it is going? Maybe a nagging voice telling me not to keep spending on Eating Out cause at this rate eating at all will be difficult? Why was I still doing all the work? It's hard and boring and depressing to watch a bottom line fade to zero. And somehow made me spend more to thumb my nose at stupid world that only rewarded me with a roof over my head for being frugal.
It's time to make money easy for the mathmatically challeged. It's time to teach visual creatures how to spend wisely with intangible cartoon rewards backing up the true success of paying off debt and saving some cash. With Lori Moucha as a designer and Lee Goffin-Bonenfant as our house nerd and programmer we're gonna Make Real LIfe More Fun!
THE HOOK!
Of course, as we are at the beginning of a development cycle we've had a lot of ideas about game play, what is fun to do but Lori and I don't alway agree and need your help. We are going to leave the final game name and game aesthetics UP TO YOU! If you give us any money at all You GET A VOTE!
The two finalists are Money Shot! A game where you sling shot money bags into a sky of obstacles and targets! and in doing so you will be entering your receipts, tracking your bottom line and categorizing your spending so you can see how fat the different areas that take your cash are.
Or we can call it Bank On It! and set you up on a virtual pool table, with receipt balls on the table ready to be smacked into pockets of categories and bouncing off bumpers.
What We Need & What You Get
Ok so what we need is computer equipment, some software, and a way to pay the rent while we pull this game together. The amount we're asking for as a start is simply to buy a couple of computers, developer rights, some software and an iphone or two for full testing.
Anything above our funding goal will go to pay our rents so we can focus on getting the game out to you.
Besides a vote we have PERKS to thank you for supporting our dream. Which you can see on the sidebar. Plus, of course is a super cool game as a result. There will be updates with test images, and as I keep thinking of things to give you random rewards thrown into the perks as well.
