The 6th Annual Vancouver Women In Film Festival (VWIFF) is coming to the Vancity Theatre at the Vancouver International Film Centre March 4th - 8th 2011. The festival showcases an impressive line-up of short and feature films (narrative, documentary & animation) by established and emerging talent, and champions, marginalized artists including aboriginal, visible minority and lesbian filmmakers. Kicking off with an Opening Night Film & Reception, this years program is packed with Pitch Sessions, New Media Day panel discussions, Talk Back sessions with Directors, and an Industry Showcase, all culminating with a special screening in celebration of International Women's Day. You dont want to miss out on VWFF 2011!

Films featuring strong female characters and stories are encouraged. Eligible films must have THREE of the following (one woman may serve in more than one role): a woman as Writer, a woman as Producer, a woman as Director, a woman as D.O.P., a woman as Lead Actor, a woman as Lead Animator / Editor.

The festival is produced by Women In Film & Television Vancouver (WIFTV), an internationally affiliated non-profit society committed to advancing the artistic and professional development of women in the screen based media industry. WIFTV is recognized for its enormous contribution to the community through advocacy, training and mentoring within and . Currently, women make up only 32% of the labour force in the film and television industry, with far lower numbers for key, above the line roles. WIFTV aims to equal the playing field and you can support this valuable work by sponsoring the Vancouver Women In Film Festival 2011
