Our Story
We met in 1999. We feel in love, and were married in May, 2001.
Joe was a Pharmacist and Kate an RN, but both had a heart for and served in ministry together. When we first met, we started sponsoring a child in Uganda together, and so began the journey in our hearts for those in need.
In 2005, Joe left pharmacy to go into full-time vocational ministry. He now serves at a church as a High School Youth Pastor at The Chapel.
Between 2004-2008, we had our 3 beautiful children. Gabe, Bella & Gavin.
In 2009, after learning that nearly 1 billion people in the world don’t have access to clean water and everyday 4,000 children die from water related disease, we knew we had to do something. So we started an organization to fund clean water solutions in Sierra Leone, Africa. To date, funds have been raised for 35 wells, and we are opening a home for orphaned children in March 2012. It is a 100% volunteer organization, Kate serves as the director. (you can learn more about let them LOL by visiting www.letthemlol.com)
On our trips to Africa we were shocked at how so many people were living in extreme poverty, and our hearts were broken, especially by the number of orphaned children.
We felt called by God as Christians to care for the orphan. So we decided to open a children’s home. But we still felt another call, a personal one. As we looked at our house, we saw that we have more space, as we looked in our refrigerator and cupboards, we saw that we have plenty of food. There’s an empty seat in our van. But most of all there’s plenty of love in our hearts.
We have so much. “To him who much is given, much will be required.”
We can not help them all, but we can help one.
And so our adoption story begins…
The Impact
Be a part of changing the life of a child forever. We are adopting one, but hope to raise awareness about adoption and influence others to adopt as well so many more children will have a family.
What We Need & What You Get
The adoption will cost between $30,000-$35,000. This includes travel to Africa twice, legal fees, immigration, education, health care for the child, etc. We are applying for loans and grants and are looking at creative ways to raise the funds.
This first $10,000 is needed by May to pay for our home study, education, and agency fees so we can send our paperwork to Ethiopia
