URN: The Movie

One American man, one British woman and six pounds of Ashes.

The Story

Urn is set in London 2012. It is about one British woman, one American man and 6 pounds of ashes.

When Jamie flies in from Denver to take home his estranged mother's ashes, he discovers that her best friend Rachel, who has shared the last few months of her life, has other ideas! Who will win the ashes? Out of the ashes of an old love, a new love is born.

Set in London, and including all the various city icons from black cabs and the London underground train system, to Waterloo bridge and the city skyline. Urn is a ten minute short film.

Our Background

Urn is happening because two actors, living on opposite sides of the world, decided to make a short film together. Francesca from London, and Joe from LA met on Twitter in 2011 and after getting on so well, decided that they just had to make a film that they really cared about. But it wasn't until Sam Snape introduced them to the script for 'Urn' that they knew it had to happen!

We are filming early February and Joe is going to fly over to freezing London from sunny LA!  It'll be his first trip to London. We all believe in this film and are passionate about it. Joe is even paying for his flight with his own money. This is a collaboration so everyone is giving their time and energy for free.

AJ Rickert Epstein our 26 year old director and cinematographer was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and has been making films since he was 8 years old! He is also flying over to London from LA. The most recent films A.J. has been cinematographer on are "The Exodus of Charlie Wright", starring Andy Garcia, Aidan Quinn, Gina Gershon.

Joe Camareno, our lead actor and producer has guest starred on many well known American shows including The Shield, Arrested Development, Six Feet Under, ER, Greys Anatomy and Malcolm in the Middle.

Francesca De Luca , our lead actress and producer and is writing a play and screenplay with Sam Snape, the writer of Urn. "I am so passionate about acting and the script of this film is so wonderful, I will do everything in my power, heart and soul to make this film happen!"

Graham Inman, one of our producers, is known by many people in 'Twitter world' and is very experienced in crowdfunding. We feel lucky to have him on board helping us promote our film on Indiegogo.

Andy Garcia on AJ:

"He was fantastic. He drove the film. He is an extraordinary talented young man. He's got all the tools and the knowledge and he shot a beautiful film. He did a wonderful job. He has great sensibilities. He's a filmmaker! He has my complete congratulations and trust."

We love it that we are from different parts of the world coming together to make a film! With your help we can make sure that as many people as possible from all over the world get to see this film.

What We Need & What You Get

First of all whatever support you give us, we will thank you and appreciate it so much!

We need $7500 which we will spend on camera equipment hire, lighting, permits, insurance and post production. We have tried to cut costs wherever we can and people are working for free. We want to produce a film we can all be very proud of and with all the time and energy we have already put in and are continuing to do, we want the film to have a good shot at getting into Film Festivals all over the world!

Joe Camareno and AJ Rickert Epstein have already booked their flights from LA (out of their own pocket) so we have pressure to get the money through!

We have some great perks that we feel you will enjoy and something to suit everyone! Our crowdfunding guru Graham is offering skype sessions to discuss your own project; Sam our screenwriter is offering skype sessions to discuss your script; Craig is even offering a group salsa class!

One of the themes of the film is letting go and we have some perks that will help you let go in your own lives including NLP skype sessions.

Further perk info

'Latin Urn': Assuming all 20 instances of this perk are taken, there will be 40 people eligible for a salsa lesson. This will be split into two groups. After the campaign is over Craig will be in touch with the potential lesson dates. Classes will be on either a Saturday or Sunday. The classes will be 90mins long.

'Oscar Urn' and above: We are aware that not everyone can make it to London for a screening at BAFTA. Please get in touch if you would like to donate this amount but know you can't attend. We will find another suitable way of thanking you.

'Silver' & 'Urn baby Urn': The Associate Producer and Executive Producer credits are titles only.

If you want to up your perk amount, we will combine perks at your request.

Other Ways You Can Be Involved

It's not just about raising money and receiving perks.

A project like this is all about support and the relationships we build through the journey. We want to meet people out there who are touched by the story, who share our passion for film making, and want to see how it all unfolds.

We would love it if you could spread the word. Tell your friends, family, anyone who you feel may be interested.

We would love to hear from them and you; whether its e-mails of encouragement, questions about the story; the cast & crew; or the process of film making. Or perhaps you'd like to share a similar experience with us?
