Our Story

Our journey began one night in October 2010 in a small editing bay. Two members of our team were discussing the idea of the "Asian Americans in Media" panel that was about to occur at the San Diego Asian Film Festival. That idea picked up momentum in the following days and a team was assembled from all over Southern California as well as Hong Kong. By January 2011, our Kickstarter reel was completed and our Kickstarter was launched on July. At that time we had no way of knowing if we'd reach our goal of $5,000 but thanks to a well timed mention in the New York Times and generous friends and community supporters, we reached our goal within a few weeks. 

With the Kickstarter money we were able to wrap up Production and begin Post-Production. Unfortunately, in order to finish Post-Production and release this documentary to the public, we realized we need more funding. 

The Impact

This documentary is significant because it records an important moment in time for the Asian American community. As of now, there has not been a complete picture of this movement and we are the first to attempt to record this moment in history. We hope to not only inspire the community to pursue their dreams but to educate and raise awareness of the inequalities that still exist for a large minority group.  

What We Need & What You Get

In reality we need more than $5,000 but we decided to ask for a realistic amount from individual community supporters. 

Here is the basic breakdown:

Legal fees : $7,000

Copyright fees: $2,000

Festival fees: $2,000

Music: $1,000

With the $5,000 we hope to raise here on Indie Go Go, we hope to cover the copyright fees as well as the festival fees and music fees.
