All net proceeds will benefit national charity organization Blessings in a Backpack.
Blessings in a Backpack (http://www.blessingsinabackpack.org/) is a unique program designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal program, and have little to no food on the weekends. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior; improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program. $80 feeds a child in the program for an entire school year.
Blessings in a Backpack is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization currently feeding over 55,000 children in 318 schools in 37 U.S. states and three countries - Canada, Columbia and Haiti.
Twilight: The Musical is a parody of the Twilight saga in the vein of Urinetown and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Twilight: The Musical examines our culture of obsession through the story of teenage outsider Bella Swan who risks everything when she embarks on a star-crossed romance with Vampire Edward Cullen.
Twilight: The Musical was created by Ashley Griffin, and features a book by Ashley Griffin, with music and lyrics by Jeremy Ezell, Ashley Griffin, Sean Mahoney, David Mallamud, and Michael Sutherland. The show had its first workshop in NYC in 2010 at the LABA theater, and is currently in development in NYC.
The concert will feature wonderful Broadway performers (casting to be announced soon) - and everyone is donating their time and resources in order to give back as much as possible to Blessings in a Backpack.
The Impact
This concert, besides being a wonderfully entertaining evening, has the potential to raise a significant amount of money for this fantastic charity. If we don't raise enough money for overhead costs, this great opportunity will be lost.
What We Need & What You Get
Right now we've set our campaign goal at $5,000 - though we would love to try and raise more than that. Reaching this goal will guarantee our overhead costs for the space will be met, and will significantly ground our footing proceeding with this event. We are currently in the process of pursuing other funding sources including corporate sponsorship, and private donations. We've already received support from Sam Ash - who have provided some wonderful perks for indiegogo donors. Any amount of money raised will help this event move forward, but the more we can raise, the better (and the more we raise, the more we'll be able to donate to Blessings in a Backpack at the end of the concert.)
