Truth on Display

Help documentary photographers continue to tell stories of courage and reality by giving your gift of support. If you believe in the power of truth, please help fund another year of Gallery I/D.

What is Gallery I/D? Gallery I/D is a photography gallery located in the Wynwood Arts District (Miami, FL) that was started by usGiselle DeVera and Marite Iglesiastwo women on a mission to open peoples eyes to the realities of the world around us.

We do not make money from Gallery I/D. Our two full-time jobs pay all the gallery's expenses (yes we both have full-time jobs). When we sell, the money goes to the artists and right back into the gallery.

We need to keep our doors open -- our public deserves it. Here's why:

With your help, Gallery I/D will continue to support documentary photographers who devote themselves to covering important projects that show what's invisible to others. Giving wall space to photographers whose projects spark up dialogue, educate and inspire others to get involved is what we do. This year we also want to expand our educational component and reach out to our community with artist talks and workshops that bring each photographer in contact with our audience.

It feels good to hear we are someone's favorite gallery and read in a review that our star is on the rise. But it's not enough. We've gotten the props, but simply put, we need the cash.

So, here's our goal: We're looking for $18,000 to help finance the next year of exhibits and installations. We are working to establish 501c3 non-profit status in 2011. (It takes a lot to become a non-profit! Weird, right? We think so too.) But right now we need your help.

Anything you could contribute will help us cover the cost of rent, electricity, promotion, shipping, installation, etc. and help ensure that documentary photographers continue to have both a platform to showcase their work and the means to continue documenting the world we live in.

Whether we reach our goal or not, our promise stands: every cent will be put to good use.

Please take a moment to view the attached video so you can find out a little more about what we do and what we plan to continue doing with your help. We hope you like what were about.

We'll be eternally grateful to each and every one of you if we can keep our space open.

Thanks for watching and caring,

Giselle DeVera and Marite Iglesias

Owners, Gallery I/D

Since opening its doors in December 2010, the gallery has been made possible by unimaginable hard work, many volunteer hours, and plenty of sweat from dedicated friends and family that believe in our vision. A special thanks to Vicio Creative for our branding and website design; Nel Hernandez, our wordsmith extraordinaire, who's penned everything Gallery I/D; Marivi Iglesias for concepting, editing, installing and mastering every task shes taken on; Taner Ziya our expert framer and installation guru -- our very own MacGyver; and Trikaya Creative Group for filming and editing this video.
