Tria and Dan is the true story of the filmmaker’s grandparents, an interracial American couple who left the US in 1949 to raise a family in Paris, France. Free from restrictions imposed by a segregationist government, Tria and Dan thrived in an artistic community made famous by Josephine Baker, James Baldwin, Chester Himes, James Jones, and Melvin Van Peebles.

This story highlights race relations in both France and the US, from yesterday to today from the filmmaker’s perspective as a dual national woman of color.
