Help send 3 dancers from Kolkata, India fly to London, England to perform at Sadler's Wells Theater!
Blossomy.org is Helping Kolkata Sanved's "Transforming Steps: Stand with Survivors of Sex Trafficking, Stand Against Exploitation" Program Get to London!
Kolkata Sanved, an NGO from India has launched an international creative initiative called "Transforming Steps: Stand with Survivors of Sex Trafficking, Stand Against Exploitation’’ in collaboration with Living Lens (UK), Sadlers Wells (UK) and Thou Art Yoga Production (Trinidad and Tobago).
The Impact
Transforming Steps seeks to draw public attention to the increase in sex trafficking during major international sporting events. The program is linked to Anti-Slavery International’s campaign on Trafficking and the Olympics. It is a unique attempt to enable the young women participating in the project to explore their innermost self and communicate with a wider international audience through dance and video.
What We Need
We need roundtrip airfare for 3 dancers (survivors) from Kolkata to London so that they can perform onstage at Sadler Wells just prior to the London 2012 Olympics as part of an initiative to educate the public about human trafficking.
More Information about the Initiative and Partners
Mafalda Deville from the Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company is working with dancers from Kolkata Sanved to develop two specially choreographed dances based on real life stories of survivors of violence. Further, a video made during a weeklong workshop conducted by Elspeth Duncan from Trinidad and Rose McCausland from Living Lens U.K with young girls from vulnerable communities will be screened during the dance performance at Sadlers Wells Theatre in London leading up to the 2012 Olympics.
