Whether you give money, or just show us your
support, we appreciate and love you either way! Any donation, regardless of its
size, is most welcome as we create TheWriteID for everyone, with everyone.
Thank you!
Do you know what you share?
In all honesty, we no longer know. Thanks to the myriad of networks and
services we subscribe every day, we have lost perspective and control.
TheWriteID will create a service aimed at giving you back this perspective and
putting you back in control of all the information you have left scattered
across various networks and services.
We
bet you have the need to manage your profile data and the networks and services
you use. TheWriteID will allow you to do just that.
TheWriteID manifest.
This text is
about you. And by you, we mean the real you; in all its offline, online and
mobile forms.
We all have multiple identities. They are
rich, represent us and are all somehow unique.
Some are pretty
accurate, some are fictional, others are outdated. Others we wish wed never
had. In fact, what we share is who we are.
The weird thing
is, we dont feel like our identities belong to us. Mostly we share our
identity in return for something. Whether it is when we are subscribing to a
newsletter, signing up for a social network or buying something online. The two
main reasons for sharing our identity are identification and authentication, we
use them to get access to something. Its these kinds of interactions that have
transformed the web from a group of connected devices to a network of connected
people. Unavoidably, with the advent of the connected self comes the need to
manage ones reputation.
Of course, we are
aware of that in order to receive, we need to share.
But who knows exactly what we are sharing. And after all these
years, where are you sharing what?
Are you still the
same person? We tend to believe that people dont change but if we look closer,
we all have to admit we do. An identity is likely to evolve, our interests also
change. We show different aspects of our identity, dependent on the setting
were in. For example we might share pictures of our children on Facebook, but
not on Linkedin.
All these networks,
tools and services make our lives more convenient. They keep on popping up, and
every time we have to identify ourselves again and again.
TheWriteID is all about putting people back in control of their
identity Knowing WHAT you share and WHERE you share it.
We will give
control over identification, authentication, representation, pseudonymity and
reputation, back to its rightful owner, which is YOU. We will act responsibly
and respect your privacy. We will not sell or give your data to any other
company, not even to monetize our service.
Help us make TheWriteID the place where you KNOW WHAT YOU SHARE
and WHERE you share it.
With your
support, we can make TheWriteID a success. So sign our petition & spread
the word. Lets change the way identity is used on the Internet. Lets write
history. Together.
What will you
support?
TheWriteID
is a universal
online passport for users and a middleware
solution for identification and authentication for networks and services.
Prototype A:
In the first instance, we will do this by enabling users to
manage their profile data & the networks and services they subscribe to.
Prototype B:
Secondly, we want to help (startup) networks and services
by creating an outsourced identification/authentication framework that they can
plug into their systems. This way, they can focus on the core activities of
their product/service.
Current status?
The
project up till now has been self-funded. In order to succeed however, we need more
money to build our prototypes and come to a working alpha product. We also need
to secure a fan base for our proposition. Whether it is by donating money,
spreading the word or just signing TheWriteID petition, we believe that all these
activities contribute equally to our ultimate goal.
We
also believe we need more input from you to address your real needs. So this Indiegogo
campaign is in fact nothing more than an open invitation to participate.
We
currently have a working, yet unfinished, prototype A. It enables you to import
identities from several networks and further allows you to blend your different
identities into one WriteID with room for aliasing, allowing anonymity and
pseudonymity.
How your money will be used?
Your
money will be used to cover the costs of development, the maintenance of a
co-creation space (so you can check what we do while engaging with us and
providing us with feedback) and some administrative costs (hosting, rewards,).
It
will be used to turn our prototype A into an awesomeness2
service that creates visibility on your (slightly) varying identities outside
the networks and services that host these details today.,We add administrative functions
into the mix, which put you in total control of your data. You will be able to
manage all the facets of your profile data, through the networks and services
you use. Our approach is thus slightly different as we believe one identity
matches one network. Of course you will be able to include multiple identities
you have within one network or service into TheWriteID.
Further we will boost our efforts to get a first working
prototype B that supports our promise to solve the outsourced identification
and authentication problem.
Lastly, we will use the funding to set up the TheWriteID in
a dual company structure. An independent entity will own the platform and the
rights to use it and a commercial entity that will hold the rights to
commercialize TheWriteID. You can compare this setup with Wordpress approach
but it goes even further. You can be part of the independent entity that
decides whether the commercial partner get a big thumbs up or an even bigger
thumbs down, empowering you to co-decide whether the commercial entity is the
right partner all along.
What we hope to raise and timeline?
We
believe US $50.000 will get us on track.
A
successful completion of Indiegogo will enable us to speed up. Early 2012 we
will be launching the co-creation platform and invite a limited set of users to
our prototype A to use and improve it.
By
April-May, we want to beta launch our prototype A publicly in a scalable,
cloud-based solution, while fine-tuning our prototype B.
By October
2012, we want to beta launch our prototype B publicly.

Why do we want to make this in co-creation?
We believe that making things together leads to better
products and services. We also believe that if we are to 'make things
together', we need to be structured so feedback can be understood and included
(we want to use all constructive feedback). Therefore we will co-create with
only a limited amount of people until the alpha product launch.
However, any feedback is good feedback. If you believe you
could be a valuable member, drop us a note and tell us why. Well evaluate your
application and give you access if youve convinced us.
