Well, the campaign is soon to be ended and the filming will start off in February so I will be asking for your help in the next days, we are looking to hit at least the 1000$ mark so we can cover some of the equipment rental costs.
Your contributions are truly appreciated, the perks are ready to be handed out so they are yours to grab. If you can help us get to at least 1000$ WE WILL LOVE YOU FOR IT!
It's clear we won't be able to fulfill our goal but still, every contribution counts! The filming will be done with or without the goal fulfillment, but this is your great chance to grab some of the gifts we offered through our perks and to help us out with our no budget whatsoever, to cover the costs of the filming equipment rental and maybe submission fees for film festivals.
Cheers and TAHNK YOU to everyone, I hope you are looking forward to our short film!
Jon

The Wild Hunt / A short film by Jon Aleksander
So this is it, it has been a week since I uploaded a teaser for my first short film project, The Wild Hunt, and I am really surprised and happy at the same time, with the amount of feedback I have received from many people around the world.
This has started out as a completely personal design & film project between me and my friends but with the amount of feedback, people suggesting and offering me support, I decided to try and take this film to IndieGogo in hopes to make the project really a lot more than I planned in the beginning. So what is this all about? It has been a good year since I started filming, editing and exploring the DSLR cinema world and honestly, so far I have only worked on vintage wedding films through the whole year but never made myself go out, write a script and film a short film and deliver an emotional story.
The Wild Hunt is my contribution to the DSRL short films, Vimeo generation and other art films that really changed my life in the last two years. I watched and enjoyed every little film but never had the courage to go out and film and produce something by myself.
This funding is meant for the technical aspect of TWH, the production and filming, because in current state I and my friends have to deal with really limited filming equipment. That is what limited us so far and can be seen from the teaser on Vimeo, but with your support, I will try to get at least the most necessary equipment, if all else fails, with rentals. Don't understand me wrong, I don't want to focus on filming gadgets and forget about the story, my main focus is to deliver a good story, emotions and great visuals, but I simply don't want that the final film is spoiled by shaky, repetitive and simple shots.

Story
Cute girl with antlers, reindeers, beautiful landscapes and mysterious forests - this would be the short way of describing.
TWH is about a girl who can't stand the urban environment and society no more. Our lives with no direction are lost and empty. She sees and feels our emptiness and she doesn't see herself being able to live among the masses of such people. The nature, endless mountain peaks, dense and cold forests is where she wants to escape. And among those forests and hills, the deer herds live, peaceful and wild at the same time, nobody can tame them and to nobody they have to bow. They live a life we will never understand, except for her, because she can see the harmony that these creatures bring to life, and she wants to be among them, not with us.
This is a short no-spoiler concept of the film, I don't want to get into details because neither are all the plans set, nor do I want to spoil the premise and feeling of the film (to myself and you :) ). All the filming will be done in the beautiful nature of Slovenia, where we scouted at least 6 different locations, from dense forests, deer habitats, mountains and cities.
We are designing custom props for filming, to mention one - I am busy working on a large replica of capital antlers.
I will update the story part as we go on with the project and hopefully there will be a lot of stuff going on to keep you posted.
See the teaser for grading style, towards what kind of music we lean to, what kind of mood and feeling we are looking forward to and so on.

Funding
The reason for taking TWH to IndieGogo is primarily our lack of appropriate DSLR filming equipment. When I started filming first shots I didn't care much about shaky cam or how this and that looks, since I never thought I'd share the film anywhere publicly, being truly my personal project and inspiration to do something new. But with the amount of recent feedback, all the emails I received from different people, I realized that I could deliver much more with the help of your support, especially in technical terms. There is a lot of equipment that would make the final film look much better and even ease the process of filming it. Also, at the beginning I was looking at about 5 minutes long final film, but with the help of your support we might push this film a lot further, although I have to say, the plan is not to sacrifice the quality for longevity, but to maximize the quality of content in every another minute that I might film. In other words, I want you to enjoy every minute of The Wild Hunt in one way or another.
We currently own only one DSLR camera - one Canon 7D along with 35mm f2 lens and the plan is to add another Canon 5D mark2 (2000+$USD), 1 or 2 lenses (can't say which since the prices go from 200$-2000$, it all depends on the funding). Along with that, we are definitely looking to add a must-have Glidecam (700$U), without which I doubt we will manage stabilized shots and a hopefully a Manfrotto Video tripod (800$) cheapest possible Follow Focus (500$-1500$) and MAYBE a really cheap camera crane(from 300$ on). again it all depends on the funding. If all fails, we will look into rentals.
We strive for a full frame DSLR (Canon 5D mark2) and one wider lens (maybe 16-35mm) because a lot of filming will be made in a beautiful countryside, hills and mountains and the problem I've had so far was that I wasn't able to capture those beautiful scenery wide shots with my cropped 7D and my 35mm lens (which on 7D work more like the 50mm lens because of the crop).
Other funds would cover the production of a score by a great Polish film composer, Wojciech Golczewski, who offered me his valuable help and support, all the fees with submitting the film to various festivals, some payment for the lovely actress Maja Supin ( :) and to cover bunch of other minor expenses that I never saw coming before I started filming and of course, all the perks included.
The funding goal for The Wild Hunt is the "best case scenario", meaning that with that money, we will be able to cover most of basic equipment listed here and almost all of the expenses (as we have currently predicted them). Any other sum we collect, will be used as resourceful as possible, primarily for equipment, traveling expenses and film packaging, secondarily, if we collect enough funds, we will use that to pay for the score composer and sound editing and possible film festival entry fees. Any funds that will / would be extra will / would be used for other production items (that we haven't included in the basics list here), such as buying or renting microphones, light systems, paying extra assistants for helping us filming and further expanding the production value and delivering a true cinema short film experience with The Wild Hunt.
I will constantly update you with posts and updates on what we were able to rent or buy so that the fund spending is transparent and that it is obvious that your support is used to help us create a better film and experience.
I have to add that the goal funds are set with currency conversion/differences in mind. We are located in Slovenia, European Union, where equipment costs a bit more than for example, in the US, not counting the conversion rates (ie. in Slovenia Canon 5DMk2 body only costs around 2000EUR which is around 2700$USD)

Perks / Gifts
Along with the TWH film I am also working on the graphic design aspect of the project, which is meant as a creative research/addendum to the film, to increase the whole experience. I am planning to use the concept designs and illustrations for my Illustration class on the University of Visual Communications and to create unique Perk gifts for all of you who will support us. When the film is done, I will pack it in unique cases and create covers with my illustration. Other than that, I am working on other great material, such as custom posters, limited edition booklets, tee shirts with TWH illustrations and others, all available through Perks.
Share The Wild Hunt short film project!
Feel free to share our project in any way you want or can. Me and my friends will be happy of any help so we can drive the project to a better final film. This being my first short film project, I certainly hope that I will have the courage to take on new filming challenges in the future and create and tell new stories if this one is successful.
If you support us with contributions, I have to say THANK YOU for your enthusiasm and your trust, even if you don't fund us, I really hope that when The Wild Hunt is finished, that you enjoy at least a second of it. That will make my and our time well spent and the feeling that you impressed somebody and maybe inspired someone to go out and create in any way they can, will be something that will certainly drive me forward to create more in the future.
