Our Story

One day several years ago, Pastor Mark Rasbach of Hope Lutheran church, in Hollywood, CA, received a letter from a woman in prison. She asked him to send her something to read. He sent her a Recovery Bible, which outlines how to use the Bible to follow the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and other recovery groups. She read it and turned her life around. Other people started sending in letters. To date, Hope Lutheran has sent almost 1,600 Bibles to people in prison. Early in the process, the members of Hope Lutheran started to feel overwhelmed by the requests. Pastor Mark reached out to a friend and colleague, Pastor Greg Hoenes of Santa Clarita Seventh-day Adventist Church. Through this partnership, they have sent out nearly 400 Bibles.

The Impact

The members of Hope Lutheran and Santa Clarita Seventh-day Adventist have funded this entirely on their own, and sometimes felt overwhelmed by the requests. We have touched a nerve and are filling an unmet - and, in many cases, unknown - need. And that's just in Southern California. We're telling the oldest story in The Book with the newest technology.

What We Need & What You Get

We have recruited a crew of accomplished filmmaking professionals to tell this story. We want to tell this story - simple but profound - in the best possible way.
