The Story
Hi folks. I'm a filmmaker and documentarian from Prince Edward Island, a small and rather wonderful island on the east coast of Canada. I'm not originally from here, but I've fallen in love with this microcosm... a world cradled in the waves. Prince Edward Island has a human scale to it. A slower cadence to life. A real community network. But things are rapidly changing. Some change for the best, some perhaps not. This documentary is a love poem to a place, an exploration of a people. The Telling is a documentary that simply listens and looks at a landscape and its inhabitants. Some of the best stories come from one's own back yard. The Telling is a tale of a place that is unique, yet it is a tale that people around the world can relate to. Neighbours, friends, lovers, artists, business executives, farmers, fishermen, newcomers, seniors, children... who are the people in the place you live?
The Impact
Cultures and communities change. There is beauty in that. And yet something is lost. The Telling attempts to capture one small part of the globe, as it is now. There are stories and perspectives here today that may be gone tomorrow. The Telling pays tribute to an ordinary part of the world and uncovers its extraordinary nature.
If you can see your way to contribute some small (or larger than small) amount of money toward this project you will help get The Telling into the world. The Telling is now in its post-production stages.... there is a long road of editing ahead. What I need is time... and with your generous contributions I can buy time to edit. And then come Spring 2011 a beautiful documentary and web series will be born: The Telling!
What We Need & What You Get
What this project requires more than anything in the world... is time! It doesn't take much money, but it will take a lot of dedicated hours to go through hundreds of hours of recorded footage and interviews to piece this feature documentary together. It will also take an inspired web developer to help design a website to host short episodes from The Telling.
Your money will go toward the time it takes to edit AND toward hiring a web developer to create a website for this documentary.
If you give, you receive:
- up to $25 - gets you heartfelt gratitude and eternal indebtedness
- $25 - $50 - gets you a swanky DVD copy of the finished documentary
- $50 + - gets you a swanky DVD copy of the finished documentary AND a 'Thank You' credit on the documentary and website.
- $250 + - gets you a swanky DVD copy of the finished documentary AND gets you a 'Producer' credit on the documentary and website.
