Our Story
"The Spirit of Strings" is an independent 35mm student film based in modern times produced in Central Florida. Penelope, an autistic violinist, is asked to be tutored by her new special needs teacher against her prostitute mother's wishes. Her only friend is her violin.
The Impact
"The Spirit of Strings" promotes autistic awareness and inner-city education. Autism is a real problem today and the people who suffer from it have no control over their condition. We also speak for inner-city single mothers who have had to make ends meet one way or another. Educating these women about their options is key to forward our society. We plan on submitting this film to festivals showing the impact of these problems on society today. Our characters speak for the people who can not control their situations and need as much help as we can give them. We are the voice of the voiceless. Help us send out their plea.
What We Need & What You Get
To give this project the green light, we will be raising over $3000 dollars for production supplies. City permits, insurance and security to film in public is a must to capture the realism of an inner-city life. Our art department needs building supplies for the soundstage we have booked for the middle of August. So much goes into building a set. Lumber, paint, props, set dressing, wardrobe and makeup are just a few things that our funding will supply. The more money we have for art department, the more we can sell this human story. Full Sail University will be supplying us with our equipment, film, camera and soundstage time. In supporting our project donators will receive producer credit, a copy of the DVD, and a crew t-shirt. View PERKS for more details.
Other Ways You Can Help
The more people who know about our project, the more we can develop and cater to our vision. We ask that you tell your friends and family about "The Spirit of Strings" to further our cause. You can share this fund raiser with anyone you choose just by using the share tools provided by IndieGoGo or just by word of mouth. You can help support the Autism Society by going to their website at http://www.autism-society.org/. Thank you for your support!
