My name is Jasmine Allen, and I am a film major in my senior year at San Diego State University. I will be shooting a short film on 35mm Panavision November 28th in San Diego. The title of the project is "The Spirit." I was inspired by Paul Gauguin's painting, "Spirit of the Dead Watching." The film is a dark comedy about Fatima, a young black woman who gets haunted by a spirit. Fatima must learn to appreciate her heritage and embrace who she really is in order to put the spirit to rest.
I am asking for five hundred dollars for my film. This contribution will be used to pay for film processing, telecine processing, and to enhance the production design which includes set pieces, set dressing, and costumes.If I am unable to receive these funds, I will still make my film with the money I do receive but the production value will suffer as a result.
