THE SECRET CITY: WE WORSHIP ART

The Secret City is a radical and unique organization. No one does what we do. We are an Obie-award winning arts organization that serves the spiritual, social and human needs of artists. How do we do this, you may ask -- by holding a monthly service that is part tent revival, part salon, part cabaret. We lift the spirits, inspire the soul, encourage the rebel and the renegade and believe passionately in the power of art and creativity to make the world a better place.

Over the past four years at our monthly gatherings, we have presented hundreds of performers, musicians, visual artists, chefs, jugglers, magicians, clowns, dancers, poets, and films. Since our founding in 2007, we have grown into an amazing community of artists, activists, spiritualists, radicals, friends, performers and seekers of beauty. This September will be the beginning of our fifth year, and we're raising money to keep our mission alive. And we need you!!


The Impact

We are a small grass-roots organization. We do now have a board of directors and will be applying for non-profit status this season. In the meantime- we rely solely on individual donations.


As a community-serving organization, we are dedicated to keeping our services pay-what-you-can. The donations received at our service do not cover the costs, thus most of our annual income must come from other donations and campaigns throughout the year.

Our expenses are not great, especially considering the impact of our work and mission. But, we do have one full-time paid staff member, and expenses to cover, including boring things like rent and supplies, and sexy things like fabric for choir robes. The money from this campaign will go to those costs. Also, with your help, we will begin to pay fees to our guest artists. 

Oh, and thanks to our fiscal sponsor, The Field, your contribution is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.


Membership -- BECOME A CITIZEN OF THE SECRET CITY!!

Do you just LOVE The Secret City? Well, this year we're introducing a new feature: membership. For a pledge of $150, you will become a Citizen of The Secret City, which will entitle you to member benefits throughout the year, including discounted tickets to Secret City events, discounted tickets to performances by artists who are friends of The Secret City, and other little perks along the way. You'll also be the first to get the newly designed Secret City T-Shirts, debuting this fall. Please consider giving at the $150 level to ensure the life and well-being of The Secret City.

$25,000 is a lot of money, especially for a small, grass-roots organization such as ourselves, but we're aiming big because we have big plans in store for next season.
