The Dominican tourism industry is a controversial topic. Ranked as the #1 vacation destination in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republics rapid and uncontrolled tourism development has exhausted the countrys limited natural resources. The jewel of the Caribbeans quick development has had many devastating affects: hotels on the beach destroying marine life and ignoring environmental decrees, natives denied the right to enjoy their own beaches which are public by law and the monopolizing of tourism revenue.

The Other Border: Battle for the Beaches, is a short documentary film that explores the economic control, civil rights violations and environmental impact of the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic.
