DONATIONS and PERKS:
Our Story
On February 19th, 1942, President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which authorized the removal and relocation of all Japanese Americans from the West Coast. Thousands of families, like George Takei's, were forced from their homes and sent, sometimes hundreds of miles away, to live in barricaded camps behind walls of barbed wire. This often "overlooked" injustice forever changed the lives of over 120,000 people.
The Impact
Using Musical Theater as a medium, and with the help of the international influence of our lead actors George Takei and Lea Salonga, Allegiance plans to spread this message to the world. We won't stop until as many people as possible know of this story, and take the time to learn more about what happened during this time. This will also be the first time that Asian Americans will be represented to this magnitude on the stage. While only approximately 2% of Broadway roles are made for Asian Americans, Allegiance utilizes over 70% Asian actors.
What We Need & What You Get
Allegiance is at a crucial time in its development. It has been offered a world renowned regional theater stage on which to fully mount this work for the first time. It will finally be given the sets, lights, and costumes that a show of this magnitude requires. For the first time, hundreds of people will be able to sit, every night, and watch this groundbreaking musical. But we need your help!
The Old Globe is the theater in San Diego, California that has agreed to mount the World Premiere of Allegiance. Your contribution will play a key role in the financing of such a large undertaking. With your donation, large or small, you will pledge that you believe, like us, that this story must be told. By supporting us, you will become a member of the ever-growing Allegiance family, and you will stand beside us as we spread our message.
In recognition of your support, certain "perks" will be made available. Everything from recognition on our highly trafficked website to VIP tickets to the opening night of Allegiance are available as a thank you for your contribution. Please, pledge today. We deeply appreciate your help.
