After her release from intensive psychiatric treatment for a devastating psychotic break, Amber Saunders is reunited with her loving family. Amber’s husband Eric and her children, Tina and Joey are understanding, but clearly fearful that Amber will have a relapse and fall victim to mental illness again. They decide to take a camping trip to the picturesque Chapaqua National Park, set in the Pacific Northwest, to re-connect as a family. Unknown to the Saunders family and the rest of the world, Chapaqua is the site of several undocumented and grisly murders, as well as an unexplained Native American Massacre. From the beginning of the story, we are shown that there is something ominous and dark about the Park. At first, the most visible evidence is the behavior of the animals. Upon arrival at the Park, Amber begins to experience terrible nightmares, causing her family to question her sanity and the decision to embark on such a trip so soon after her release. We begin to see that this family has already been through a terrible ordeal as the topic of Amber’s medication begins to causes several problems. As Amber’s nightmares continue, she is confronted by the ghost of her dead father and it is revealed he molested her as a child, and that the circumstances surrounding his death are what threw Amber into a psychotic break. This exposure of the incident leaves Amber’s mind vulnerable and the demon is revealed as it begins to beguile Amber. She is made to believe that Eric is the same as her father and she kills him in a murderous rage. The spilling of Eric’s blood gives Amber’s mind and soul over to the demon completely and the demon demands the blood of her children in sacrifice. This sets off a nightmarish pursuit through the haunted forest where ghosts and possessed animals await Joey and Tina at every turn as they run for their lives with no escape in sight, culminating in a mind-blowing climax that will leave the audience feeling shocked and spent at the same time.
