The Story

My name is Christopher Bernard, and I believe storytelling changes lives.  I’d like to inspire you with my newest project, entitled ‘Rain’ that will help end the literary drought brought on by the change in the publishing industry.

The Impact

Supporting this project not only gives you control on the future of the publishing industry, it also brings a new voice to young readers. 

The Goal

I want nothing more than to take readers on a fantastic emotional and visual journey through Rain’s world.  The graphic novel will present the first part of the story told in four issues. The artwork, showcases the talents of Jason Pedersen, who will bring the first three chapters of the novel to life.  Jason Pedersen has been  helping other starving artists achieve their dreams.  He is an artist from Arizona who has agreed to help me bring my story to life, so I would like to return the favor and pay him what he is worth.  Jason is also a very talented tattoo artist! After the completion of the young adult novel, I wanted to continue adapting the story to make it more accessible to everyone, and if I hope to realize this dream, I'm going to need major support.  I am asking backers to help with the costs to illustrate the graphic novel, and purchase a high quality cover for the book. Here's a breakdown of the costs I face as an emerging author:

• $215 per page ($110 for pencils, $80 for colors, and $25 for lettering) x 50 pages = $10,750

• $1500 for high quality artwork for the paperback/hardcover book.

• $0 for the writer who’s payment will be knowing you love the story!  Remember to starve the artist, not the dream!

I hope to raise enough funds to complete the first stage of the 50 page graphic novel.  The money raised will go towards the actual total of $14,550.00 to produce all the art and hopefully there will be some left over for production costs.  Why so much? There are administration fees for publishing, and promotional items to be generated and paid for, printing, and distribution, and a certain amount of advertising costs, not to mention the fees taken by IndieGoGo, and credit card companies.

This campaign is all or nothing, so reaching the goal is paramount! As if supporting a young writer’s dream isn’t reward enough [in most cases, it’s not], supporters can choose from a plethora of awesome rewards! * International Supporters, please add $10 for shipping and handling charges.
