The Lost Children tells the story of Evelyn Hamilton, young New York socialite and party-girl, turned cult follower. Seduced into the Lost Children Cult by a man who might be the mysterious Chance Sturges, Evelyn learns that she does not need to rise up through the cult levels and ranks, for Sturges has declared her The Alpha, one who is abnormally enlightened. The Alpha sits just below The Father, Sturges himself.

Evelyns family engages Jared Allen Tyler, infamous cult deprogrammer, to extract Evelyn from the Lost Children, and deprogram her; cleanse her mind of the cults beliefs. However, soon enough, Tyler finds himself drawn into her world. And everything he thought he knew about the world. Is wrong.
