The Lengths.

In 2007, the Arts Council funded me to conduct a research project interviewing men who sell sex to men in London. The results of the interviews have formed the basis for the comic I’ve been working on over the last couple of months.

The comic will tell the story of Eddie, a young man who moves to London to art school, but in his quest to find himself, he finds Nelson, a muscled prostitute who he becomes infatuated with and follows into a world of drugs and vice and then his quest for absolution once he finds that it’s a life he’s not cut out for.

I’m currently drawing the artwork for the first issue, but I have a story planned across eight issues that takes us through quite a ride with Eddie and his clients, lovers and friends and it’s this first issue that I’m asking for help with at the moment.

It’s a story I want to reach as wide an audience as possible, so I’m looking for your help to cover printing and marketing costs to help this happen as it’s an ambitious project that I believe will get a lot of attention. Once the first print run is out, I will be promoting the comic heavily and trying to secure a distribution deal for a wider release early next year.

As you can imagine, it’s a lot of work for one person, but it’s a labour of love for me to go down this path.
