A Little About By Brooklyn

I'm Gaia DiLoreto and welcome to By Brooklyn.  I had a vision.  A place one could find the finest goods made in Brooklyn, NY.  That was nine months ago.  The store, scheduled to open at the end of this month, is located on Smith Street, the commercial corridor linking Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, and Boerum Hill.  By Brooklyn will feature local products made by more than 100 artisans, craftsmen, and other entrepreneurs who call Brooklyn home.

I've spent the last year searching for the highest quality local manufacturers, building key business relationships, putting together a comprehensive business plan, and securing funds. The lease is signed, contractors are working, goods are on order and my store manager Jonah Eller-Isaacs and I are hard at work.

Starting a business costs a bundle.  And like most large projects there are unforeseen costs, items that could not be anticipated, like a broken A/C unit, breaking down a cheese cave (a what?), or a great computer system that will work with our future on-line store.  Oh, and something completely unexpected, a GARDEN!  What? Outdoor space?  Can't let THAT go to waste, so it needs to be beautified a bit.
