“His name is not Wild Dog anymore, but the First Friend, because he will be our friend for always and always and always.” – Rudyard Kipling
What if Judgment Day came and went – and no one was none the wiser? What if mankind had been saved by a most unlikely savior?
The Crime of the Wandering Dog, based on the poem by the Brothers Grim & Grimy [undead], tells the tale of a dog cursed by God to roam the earth until His return, to act as a spy amongst mankind. The dog is charged with reporting humanity’s deeds to the Highest Judge come Armageddon. We have only to look around to know mankind would need a pretty slick lawyer to come out of that court without the harshest sentence. So… how can we be saved? And, more pointedly, are we worth saving?
The Crime of the Wandering Dog is a 55 min. hybrid animation/live action film. It employs traditional 2D animation with stock and documentary footage, digitally generated images, and live action. The narration recounts the history of the western world – and sets the record straight. The story is told in rhyme, like Dr. Seuss, only much, much darker.
The film is currently in production. The script is written and the production designs are almost complete. We are in the process of storyboarding for a working animatic, which will require creating a scratch soundtrack. We also need funds for the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse costumes (for the live action sequences).
In addition to general donations, if you have an affinity for a particular period in history, you may choose to fund a specific historical sequence in the film, and you will be acknowledged in the credits for your chosen sequence. You are welcome to adopt one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and fund their costume. You will be credited in the film for your horseman.
We have a wide range of thank you gifts for contributors, including, of course, credit in the film, as well as signed, hand-finished editions of our book Dante’s Inferno: A Comedy by the Brothers Grim & Grimy [undead] (which is the de facto notes for the film The Crime of the Wandering Dog), limited edition prints, and even original production artwork. Please see the donation levels sidebar for more details. Thank you for your consideration.
