The Cosmonaut is a crowdfunded science fiction feature film by Riot Cinema Collective about a Russian cosmonaut lost in Space.

From 2 anyone can become a producer. 2 secures you a welcome pack (which includes a couple of stickers, a badge, a producer certificate and the chance to participate in a price-draw for a real cosmonaut suit) and your name in the films credits. If you want to collaborate with more we have a great online store with merchandising (shirts, books, pencils). So that no matter how much money you invest you always receive something in return.

You can also buy a percentage of the film and participate in it’s future benefits.

All the content created for and around the film is licensed under CC-Attribution/Share Alike No Commercial (raw footage, the soundtrack, photographs, videos…everything). The power of CC licenses have helped us organize a Remix contest in march with TheAuteurs.com encouraging people from all over the world to remix the teaser of the film.

Ok. So numbers…..in 9 months: more than 2,000 producers to date may 2010 (people who have contributed 2 or more), 23 investors (investing between 1000-3000), have appeared in all spanish radios, tv networks, the most important spanish blogs (cinema and technology) and all of the big national dailies.

Outside Spain we appeared in Wired Magazine UK and personalities such as Peter Broderick or Brian Newman use us as a case study in their conferences.

Finally, The Cosmonaut will have a day and date premiere in movie theaters, online (HD and Free), TV and DVD so the audience can decide when, where and how to watch it.
