What's the story?

Ruby (7), is obsessed with the claw (crane grabber) machines. On a family day at the seaside, she drags her long suffering parents onto the pier, and into an amusement arcade populated by misfits. To Ruby's delight and her parents stupefaction, she claims a very improbable prize. The arcade misfits interpret this as a sign that she can deliver them from an unspeakable curse. Ruby's father, John discovers that despite his dark imagination, when things turn proper weird, he is out of his depth.

Who we are

We are ambitious independent filmmakers based in Bristol (UK). The Claw was conceived as a distinctive short film that will perform well on the festival circuit and enable us to develop our careers as filmmakers. Starting life as a simple idea with a surreal twist, the film revealed hidden depths in pre-production and is now a more substantial entity that touches upon notions of beauty, ugliness and tolerance. Due to overwhelmingly positive responses to both idea and script, and it's ability to stir up childhood memories, we believe The Claw can reach a wide audience. As our promo demonstrates, we are fully committed to making the film, but your help will make the process swifter, less painful and guarantee a high quality outcome.

Our Cast

Father  - Jonathan Rhodes - watch his latest short 'Big Society'

Mother - Peta Dennis          - Ruby - Caitlin Baxter

Arcade Attendant - Angus Barr

What we need and how can you help

We are entirely self-funded, with a committed, experienced crew working for expenses only. Your contribution will enable completion of principal photography by covering the costs of hiring the arcade, equipment, props and everything required for a successful shoot. Our campaign target is carefully budgeted to ensure The Claw reaches a standard sufficient to gain international recognition and help us progress towards feature film production. Anything raised above our target will help finance post-production and festival submissions. Following extensive pre-production, we shoot this summer with a projected September completion date. Be assured that your contribution will translate directly into the quality of the film on screen.
