"THE CAPED CRUSADER"
Several Years after Gotham has been saved from the treacherous hold of Bane, Batman continues his crusade now realizing the day won't come with Gotham no longer needs Batman. He now struggles to bring down Roman Sionis's Criminal Syndicate known as "The Society" and deals with constant run ins with Selina Kyle who his relationship with has now faded away. Meanwhile in Arkham Asylum Renowned Psychiatrist Dr. Harleen Quinzel has been appointed over the therapy of The Joker. As Quinzel begins her sessions she is pulled into The Joker's world of chaos and madness. With these events taking place The President of the United States has sent in Task Force X to help clean up his hometown of Gotham City and restore the city to a time without crime and despair. This includes another well known Psychiatrist developing a full profile on The Batman in hopes of bringing the Vigilante down once and for all. But after The Joker escapes and thrusts Gotham into a time of terrorism and chaos once again, and killing thousands with his antics; The President orders anyone associated or suspected of crime be eradicated. Now The Dark Knight must fight against two evils in hopes of bringing true justice to Gotham and complete his crusade.
This story takes place in the NOLAN-VERSE of Batman. It picks up directly after the events depicted in Nolan's final movie The Dark Knight Rises and is then jumps forward several years after Bane is defeated and Gotham begins to be restored once again. It is set in the latter days of Bruce Wayne's time as Batman.
OUR STORY
THE CAPED CRUSADER is a high-production-value fan-film that is being produced by industry professionals with a goal to create the finest and most ambitious Batman fan-film to date. We have renowned professionals involved from many areas of film and television production, including art designers, makeup artists, costume designers, producers, not to mention cast members, who are all working together to make a high-production-value film at studio quality by pooling our talents to create something truly special. We are also using aerial photography, wire work, Visual effects, massive stuntwork, and we will be using an actual Tumbler (BATMOBILE REPLICA) and Batpod. For us the challenge was cracking the story. How do you come up with a story that can fit in Nolan's realistic world? So we used the rules Nolan had applied to his trilogy when it comes to themes, villains, character arcs, and everything else you can possibly imagine. Nolan has stated that TDKR will be the finality of his movies. In that movie you can suspect Batman to rise from a simple legend and accept that Batman must exist and Gotham will always need him. There will never be a day come when Gotham or Bruce will not need The Symbol that is THE BATMAN. That was our starting point. Gotham needs Batman and he's doing his best to restore the city after the events depicted in the final film. Of course criminals will fight for their right to exist as well. I needed a character who has a different view of Justice as opposed to The Batman. The themes of this movie will be Restoration and Perception and will mirror certain political events that continue to happen in our world today.
THE IMPACT
When Christopher Nolan reinvented the Batman onscreen, he not only sparked people's interest but people's love for a character that was fading due to other film flops. There are so many Batman Mythos and Legends that people would love to see how they fit into Nolan's Universe established in his trilogy. We are also filming in Cincinnati, and will feature wire work, massive stunts, visual effects, explosions, aerial photography, and much more. We hope that everyone involved can use it as a 'calling card' - whether you're an art designer wanting to show your skills on the screen; an actor wanting to get noticed by key industry professionals; or an aspiring producer seeking opportunities, then this is the project for you, as already there has been significant public and industry interest around the production, so get involved today for your opportunity. We also want to pay tribute to the greatest Batman films of our day that will reluctantly end with Nolan's final installment. And also pay tribute to Heath Ledger's amazing portrayal of The Joker. There are several successful fan films out there that have been produced and our goal is to simply make one of the best that we can by mirroring those things seen in Nolan's films. That's why we have included an actual Tumbler and possibly a Batpod as well. We have to close down streets for some of the scenes. The locations are all being carefully chosen based on those locations in the original trilogy, the wardrobe is being specifically made and will feature the Batsuit from The Dark Knight, Catwoman's suit from TDKR, Joker's look, as well as introducing a look for Harley Quinn, and the other characters being introduced; Hugo Strange, Roman Sionis etc. Gadgets and props, set design, and the fantastic finale we have planned for our film.
WHAT WE NEED AND WHAT YOU GET
Because of the fan-film nature of the project, we are unable to pay those involved, or obtain formal finance, so everyone involved in the project is giving their time and talent free of charge. What we do need funds for, however, is for the hiring of equipment, and to pay for VFX shots (including flying), as well as to cover various expenses for locations, lodging, wardrobe, catering. So far we have implemented all aspects of the production with extremely low budget, and our intention is to keep the figure as reasonable as possible, so that we can put as much money on the screen as possible, by putting more into the visual effects and post production process. If we do not reach the entire goal, the production will continue regardless, but to enable us to deliver the completed picture we need to get funds in place. However because we want to make this film the best that it can be we will need finances to work with. That's where you can play a part in producing the greatest Batman fan film to date. We are opening up several perks in return for investment to those who are either looking for a 'break' in the film industry, be it as a producer, an actor, or any other role, but also for anyone who wants to be part of a Batman film.
