Our Story
Our story is about a young African American girl, Cassie Joy, growing up in 1940's southern Georgia. She has a vivid imagination that her father loves but her mother is fearful of. We follow Cassie through her struggle to become a ballet dancer. We are graduate students at Savannah College of Art and Design. This is our thesis film, it is a student project from start to finish. We will be shooting in April of 2011 in Savannah Georgia with help from the support raised here.
The Impact
Because this is a student project we are on a student budget to make a period film, which is not an easy task. This is a really great story, one that is not often told and should be heard. If we don't receive the funding we need there are many students who will have nothing to show for all the hard work and preparation that has gone into the project thus far. What We Need & What You Get
We need to raise 5,000 for props, locations, wardrobe, and film. However the funding we receive here on Indiegogo will go straight to paying for the high costs of film processing. Our incentives:
for $25 you will get a copy of the finish film on DVD.
for $50 you will get the DVD and a Butterfly Dancer T-shirt.
For $100 you will get the DVD, t-shirt, and an executive producer credit on the film.
