A BLACK COMEDY with a hint of filmmaking:
Gordon (Justin Simonetti) is an ambitious teenage film director who leads a crew of unique personalities as they regularly shoot short films in their small town . His crew includes Peter (Rachel Payne), his just as driven director of photography who just wants some appreciation from Gordon; Katz (Jordan Neidig), the sweet but occasionally clumsy boom operator; and Stan (Zac Einhorn) or "the Stand-around-man, the youngest in the crew who just wants something to do on set.
When an accident on set sends an actor to the hospital, Gordon takes it as a sign from the “creative gods” that he’s not doing his job. When Gordon eventually pushes his crew to make a snuff film as a sacrifice to the gods, their friendships are put to the test.

WHAT MAKES THIS PROJECT DIFFERENT
|
|
This project is unique in that it chronicles a significant point in many young people's lives. A time where one is absolutely sure about something or not. A time when we used our childhood imagination to fuel our creativity as teenagers. The time in your life... and for others... the first time in their life... when you knew you wanted to make movies.
"The Back Lot" is the first film that will introduce and immerse audiences into a world where simple storytelling is taken more seriously than anything else we might face in life. Unfortunately, sometimes one learns that fun and passion can be overtaken by a terrifying ambition.
The film also features the debut of many young, talented actors including Justin Simonetti, Rachel Payne, Jordan Neidig, Zac Einhorn, and others. It is also the first feature from 19 year-old director Max Einhorn and his production company Affinity Independent.
The project is being shot on HD and will often be using steadicam devices and long takes to give the film's audience a sense of being "one of the crew."
The Back Lot strives to take audience members back to a special time in their lives where creativity battled with skill and passion collided with motivation.

Hey Fans!
We did it! A few days ago we officially wrapped principal photography for The Back Lot! We shot for nearly two full weeks with some days of shooting extending over twelve hours. It was tiresome but incredibly rewarding. We’re picking production back up in about five weeks to get a few pickups, but keep an eye out for production stills and maybe a teaser trailer over the next few weeks! |
