The Tale of our Tail

Mind The Gap Theatre and Early Bird Theatricals will present Jessica Fleitmans award winning comedy The Average-Sized Mermaid (2008 Corwin Award) in August 2011 in The New York International Fringe Festival. The production will be directed by Mind The Gaps Artistic Director, Paula DAlessandris (The Cleric at 59E59; In Under The Blue Sky at The Kraine, In The Pipeline at Manhattan Theatre Source) and will feature Dawn McGee*, Vinnie Penna*, David J. Goldberg, Erika Myers, Shannon Munley & Daniel Cibener.

In The Average-Sized Mermaid, Miriam Moselle magically transforms into a mermaid and unexpectedly finds herself the figurehead of a feminist movement. But when she begins to fall for an unconventional prince charming, she soon learns that you need to be careful what you fish for

The Impact

Let's face it: we could all use a laugh these days. That's what we're aiming to do: bring a fun, intelligent, un-pretentious, heart-warming, sexy, hilarious, old-fashioned screwball romantic comedy to the New York International Fringe Festival (but, you know, with a tail and an appearance by a drag queen). We just want to tell what we believe to be a great story with the best cast and crew possible in the best way possible. But we need your help!


What We Need & WHAT YOU GET!

The truth of the matter is, this production will either sink or swim based on your donations. Any contribution at any level counts! $40 pays for space for one complete three-hour rehearsal. Your donation of $175 means we can rehearse for a week! $200 covers the cost of printing postcards to market the show. $500 gets us costumes, including a fin-tastic, built-from-scratch mermaid tail! And so on...
