The "TEAR DOWN THIS WALL" campaign seeks to raise $5000 for the costs of demolition and re-construction for the expansion of Tahoe Youth Ballet's (currently rather small) rehearsal studio. All contributions will go to materials for a sprung marley floor and refurbishing of the new space. Tahoe Youth Ballet started in 2009 with a joint purpose of offering the highest level of training and performing experience and while presenting performances featuring local and guest dancers in innovative new works. The company's rehearsal space currently has danceable floor space of 568 square feet. Expanding to the available space next door would make the new space 988 square feet, which would enable the company to host larger workshops, host in-studio performances and fund-raisers, and even offer artist-in-residency programs for visiting artists and companies.
Tahoe Youth Ballet's mission is to enrich the cultural and educational fabric of Lake Tahoe where pre-professional students collaborate with professional artists to gain the opportunity to share their artistry within their community side by side with guest artists in performances that enliven the region's cultural life, mentor local talent, and foster a new awareness and appreciation for the arts.
