Our Story
The Ensemble Theatre Company of (TETCNY) is proud to be producing our first planned Professional Equity (LOA) production John Gay's DIVERSIONS & DELIGHTS.
The play, about one of Oscar Wilde's last lectures in a small concert hall on the Rue de la Pepinier, in 1899, is at turns funny and touching. The story, which at times deals with societal intolerance, is not only reflective of the hypocrisies of Victorian England, but of our current cultural views today.
The Ensemble Theatre Company of seeks to bring great works that have been overlooked back to audiences, particularly those that reflect what is going on in todays society. We also wish to be a place where people can learn their various crafts, as well as introduce new audiences to the enlightening effects of live theatre. Supporting us are such theatre luminaries as SIR DEREK JACOBI, BRIAN BEDFORD, BRIAN MURRAY, and ELI WALLACH, as well as Broadway producers JOHN HABER and RICK HOBARD.
The Impact
.
Help us create and reach others with art that has enriched our lives.
What We Need & What You Get
This first campaign is to raise $5,000 to pay for the rights to produce John Gays DIVERSIONS & DELIGHTS.
The show has not been done in NYC since 1978, and has rarely been performed since. It will be a real boon to present this work to a new generation of Theatergoers, as well as to those who saw the original production. The play, while quite funny, touches on issues of intolerance that also makes its message relevant and timely.
