Our Story
It started in 2008 in my New York City apartment. I had wanted to write a musical for women. What better time period then the 1940's when women were flooding to the factories and holding down the fort here in the United States. Something happened somewhere between concept and writing. The musical somehow turned quickly into the story of Miles.
This musical is a fictional story of friends and how a world war changed their lives and the society that they lived in. This silent generation is a generation of heroes. It was not just the soldiers who fought the battles, but the women and men who stayed home rationing and working to keep the country going. This musical follows the story of four friends and how the world affected them. It is about love, hardship and death. In a time when over 1,000 WWII vets are dying every day it is time to pay homage to this generation of heroes.
The script is in the style of the 1940's, but the music is a modern pop/folk sound that resonates with today's younger generations. The feedback to date has been unbelievable.
Our process has led us to needing to produce a demo cd to submit to festivals and theatres for consideration, as well as produce a full workshop for an audience to know what, if anything, need fixing.
The Impact
The monies raised by this campaign will go directly toward the workshop in October and the recording of the demo cd. We need to pay 15 actors, a director, music director and crew. We will need to rent a theatre and rehearsal space. The demo cd will require a sound engineer to produce a high quality recording of the music and reproduction of the cd itself.
If enough funds are not raised we will need to figure out other options to move this project forward.
What We Need & What You Get
To date the project has been primarily funded by individual contributors. Many have donated time and resources to further the development of this script and music. All money's raised in this campaign will be for the workshop and demo. Both of these are happening with or without the money and any proceeds will help to elevate the quality of the final product. (All monies donated are not tax deductible and are not considered a financial investment yielding profits. Donations are monies given to further the piece.)
Other Ways You Can Help
Spread the word!!!! Tell your family and friends. Follow us on Facebook or join our contact list on the website. We cannot do this alone and the more people you tell the more impact we can make. This musical is honoring a generation. Let's honor them before they are gone.
