Our Strange Story
We are Strange. Our coffee team is Russell Chisholm and Brian Babcock
and we roast and brew specialty coffee wherever possible through our
pop-up shop and our smallest-of-the-small roasting operation. Right now
that roasting operation is looking for a new home and you can help. We are currently
selling coffee locally with retail and restaurant customers across
Southwest Virginia. We sell directly to coffee fanatics through our
online store: Strange Coffee Company.
Our company is a collaboration of coffee people with decades of
experience in specialty coffee, but also coffee lovers with necessary
skill sets like James Lanter, our Selva Negra guzzling technology expert
and Anna Chisholm, coffee bean counter. This campaign is inspired by
and dedicated to fans of The Easy Chair Coffee Shop where we roasted and
served coffee for over 15 years.
The Re-Launch Pad
Our goal is $25,000. We will use these funds to purchase new coffees
and roasting equipment, specifically an Ambex YM-10. We will expand our inventory of the best home
coffee brewing equipment and immediately begin shipping these items
through our web store. You need coffee. You are going to need coffee
next week, next month and next year. Our approach is very simple. You
will get coffee credits to spend over time. Or you can select from some
of our fun coffee activities from a coffee party in the roastery to a
trip to an origin country. We have structured our program so that you
can help at any comfortable level. We offer local Blacksburg delivery
and have arrangements with retail partners where you can pick up your
coffee from Blacksburg to Roanoke and around the New River Valley.
Ordering from our online store? We ship anywhere in the United States. Our goal is $25,000 and we believe we can crush that goal with your help.
Now You Are On Board
With your help we will continue to provide excellent coffee sustainably
sourced from responsible, family farms. In our new facility we can
expand our coffee education programs and connect consumers to the
sources of their coffee around the globe. Your commitment will allow us to maintain uninterrupted service to our wholesale
accounts, our online customers and our local bicycle delivery partners, Spoke-N-Beans.
Our new roasting facility has the capacity to expand into coffee
education seminars, public tastings, fundraisers, and other community
outreach. This project will also help create and sustain jobs in an
area largely ignored by the big coffee companies. We are good at what
we do and we want to do it here.
The Coffee Force
This is crowdfunding. You make it work. If your coffee budget is tight, buy $11 worth of credits and nudge your friends to buy $11 each. Why not pay it forward and purchase $11 worth for a friend and ask them to do the same for one of their coffee crazed people? Share this project with your friends on your blog, Facebook and Twitter. Have you had our coffee? Rave about it and share the link to our campaign. If you haven't had our coffee ... wait ... why haven't you had our coffee?! Your efforts add up and sustain us during this transition. Coffee is a force that gives us meaning and we mean to keep roasting and brewing it wherever we go.
