About the Director & the Film
Allison Hogue grew up in the Arkansas Mississippi River Delta in a little town that could barely claim 5,000 people as its own. It's a place where very little ever changes, and over the last several years as an adult, she has come to appreciate how beautiful it is. As beautiful as it is, though, it's also a place that, at times, seems to be falling apart at the seams. Very few new opportunities come in for those that need it most, often leaving them stuck in a situation they can't pull themselves out of.
In an attempt to honestly capture the Arkansas Delta, she's written a story about an unemployed widower named Daniel. Still Life will follow him in his last attempts to find a way to provide for himself and his son, Jack, in this place where new opportunities are so few and far between.
The Impact
Still Life is Allison's thesis film for the Digital Filmmaking Master of of Fine Arts program at the University of Central Arkansas. Writing, producing, and directing this film determines whether or not she graduates, and the final product will be her best opportunity to submit a film to major film festivals, such as Sundance, Cannes, and South by Southwest. Not only will that be an exciting chance to share the Delta with people who have probably never seen it before, but it will also benefit the careers of all those involved. Still Life has a crew of student and budding filmmakers, and will be featuring local talent in the cast.
What We Need
We, the crew of Still Life, are asking for $2500 to assist in the production of the film. The money we raise here will go towards everything from feeding the cast and crew during production, to dressing the sets authentically, to renting camera lenses that will be required to successfully capture the vastness of the Delta. No donation is too small!
Other Ways You Can Help
Even if you can't contribute financially, you can help by spreading the word! Tell your friends, family, and anyone else you know who could help make this film a reality.
