Our Story
Steel Audrey is a rowdy-roots-folk band singing over-embellished tales of seedy characters; set to a gritty and energetic live performance.
We are raising money to finish recording our EP to be released this fall. Our plan is to raise $2,000 by the end of August.
We will be kicking off our fundraising campaign on July 8 at our Backyard Video Release ShitShow, where we will release our first single from the EP and a few music videos that we recently finished shooting with a local director.
After we've recorded the album, we will have a CD release party, followed up by a tour this fall.
The longterm goal is to continue touring through 2012 and then begin working on our first full length album that fall.
The Impact
We have been working our butts off to get these songs perfected and recorded in a way that truly brings out the best in each song. Many of you have been hearing these songs at our live shows for years, and have patiently been asking us when you can hear them recorded... Well, we can't wait for you to be able to finally take them home with you and share them with your friends!
These songs are more than just music to us, they represent the way we view our culture and the history that created it, and they even tell the stories of our own lives. We are honoured to have you be a part of this, and hope that through our stories, we can somehow make your life a bit more interesting.
Budget
To record this 4 song EP we need a total of $4088. We (Steel Audrey) have personally invested just over $2,000 into this project, and although we are close, we just cant make it the entire way on our own, so we are hoping to raise the remaining $2000 through your support.
Heres the breakdown of cost and required investment for the Album:
Fallback Plan
Do not fear! If we fall short of our funding goal, we have a backup plan in place. The plan would enable us to roll the EP out in a more affordable (albeit, less effective) way; by cutting out some of the extras like mastering, publicity, download cards and reducing the scope of the album art, we would be able to lower the total cost to below $3,000, which could be recouped within a few months through CD sales.
If we happen to go above and beyond our goal, the extra money will be used to put more songs on the album, and to bring a better product to life!
Money isn't everything! Tell all your friends about us, tell them what we do, why we do it, and tell them how awesome we are! And remember, every little bit helps.
There are share tools on this site that allow you to post to Twitter and Facebook (myspace is dead but I think we support that as well), so please share this with your friends and let's get this EP into as many hands as possible!
