Prior to creating the film we are we are embarking on a new and experimental approach to filmmaking by collaborating with social service agencies, educational institutions and community organizations, women's shelters, prison programs and elderly care facilities that provide resources and services to women and their children. Many of these organizations help and work with underrepresented women such as:
· Resolana Project that teaches job skills to Dallas County women inmates
· Alley’s House that encourages teenage mothers to finish their GED
· Family Place that works with domestic violence and incest survivors
· New Friends New Life that helps women leave the sex trade industry
What is it about shoes that appeal to women from all walks of life? What does the shoe say about gender, relationships, body image, history, sexuality, race, class, culture, fashion and art, money, power, sex, and just having fun? The stories are about women's identity. They are strong, fresh, deep and fun and connect women from all walks of life.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our Community Outreach needs financial support to continue and expand the art and writing workshops, purchase the necessary materials for these diverse groups, staff a person to maintain and expand the outreach programming and keep up the social media campaign. By focusing on a range of women's issues instead of their differences, we are generating a dialogue about the common experience ALL women face through out life. By giving a voice to women and children we are empowering women locally, nation wide and globally.
SHOE CONFESSIONAL –
We decided to record the stories as they were told so we came up with design for a mobile recording booth that would record and be able to stream the interviews to our website. A team of designers, artists and sound technicians collaborated on the design, construction and installation of, what we now call, the “Shoe Confessional”.
The Shoe Confessional was recently installed at the Dallas Museum of Art in conjunction with Jean Paul Gaultier’s International Fashion Tour. It gathered so much buzz and popularity that we have been invited to install it at Neiman Marcus during their Stiletto Strut that will benefit the Family Place Women's Shelter.
SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN -The
