What happens when you want to leave your girlfriend but can't do it? What happens when just as you're about to leave she gets a life-threatening illness? Do you stay because she needs you? Do you stay because you're guilty? Would she want you to stay, knowing that you're thinking of leaving?

Introducing his first feature film, Daniel Johnsons Side by Side is a story of a struggling couple facing one of lifes most challenging tests. Paul is a struggling musician whose creativity is as lacking as his willingness to take on responsibility in his life. However, long time girlfriend Lisa hopes they will spend the rest of their lives together. But when Lisa hears the news shes been dreading for weeks; Breast Cancer how will they deal with the life changing situation they are now faced with? Side by Side is a story about temptation, about reigniting passion, and about finding hope and wisdom in even the most tragic of circumstances. Will Paul stay by Lisas side?

Most movies cost millions, some cost hundreds of thousands, ours is much less than all of those. It's one of those things where we're pulling in favours, begging for help, getting relatives to drive us, getting friends to bake cakes; and what we lack in money we make up for in adrenalin and hard work.

But we need some money! We need to eat! We need to build a hospital set! We need to be able to afford a few car journeys! That's where you can help. And it's tough because; there are greater causes in the world. There are people who NEED money; whereas we're just artists.

So I find it hard to justify why anyone should help us. But then, I think we're doing something that people long for. We're not owned by the corporate empire, we're not making a typical genre film-- we're doing something that matters, something with truth. Films and music aren't what they used to be. When you listen to old Dylan records or watch Chaplin films -- their big beating hearts shine through. You don't get that with Transformers or JLS.

We want to do something special. But when you step out into the world with a project like this you meet resistance, you meet shut doors, you meet indifference. But that's why it matters. Because there's not a lot of people doing this anymore. Everyone is pandering to a certain market, they're making some guy in a suit get rich. We just want to make an amazing movie.

All donations help, they really do. By donating to us you can get a credit on the film like 'Associate Producer' or even a 'thanks.' You could go spend two hours of your wages buying a ticket to see a movie that's disappointing, or instead you could put it into 'Side By Side' - we need it and we won't squander it, I promise.
