Shauna Lawhorne is an exciting young documentary filmmaker based in Washington, DC. Her most recent independent film – “What do I call the woman who gave birth to me?” – is a poignant account of the reunion between Shauna and her biological family. The film was featured in festivals throughout the mid-Atlantic region. She also produced and directed RockIn’ the Beltway, a rock documentary that showcased to an enthusiastic audience at the Hungarian Embassy in Washington, DC. She is currently employed with Sandy Gilmour Communications (SGC), where she produces and edits award-winning educational videos for the U.S. Chemical Safety Board. Prior to joining SGC in 2009, she worked with Five Star Films, Inc. in Cabin John, Maryland. During her four years at Five Star Films, she edited and assisted with the production of numerous short video projects. Shauna is completing her MFA in film and electronic media at American University’s School of Communication.
