Setoland is small nation divided by borders. Their King is elected, which could be alternative to British monarchy. There wasn’t much economy there, contraband between Russia and EU state Estonia; plus producing their own extra strong spirit (over 70% of alcohol) and selling it to black market were the main activities.
They are extremely talented and funny persons there without any hope for their culture survival in corrupted European Union. For example, Russian nominated poet Puskhin was from there from a small village called Michalovskoje.
Most of the Seto’s national songs are about f***ing because otherwise such kind of small nations would have died long time ago.
2/3 of Setoland belongs to Estonia and 1/3 to Russia in a way that borders has been drawn over one person back yard. So this guy goes each day to collect his firewood from Russian side and burns it in EU causing pollution here.
I lived in Southern Estonia in 2003/2004 and would love to go back there with an awarded director with me. The best time to be there is July (their longest day holiday by Ortodox calendar) and August (King elections) to shoot over 40h material which could be edited to TV format or feature lenght documentary.
I’m raising funds to cover mine, and selected director’s, costs to get there and shoot this project.
