Seorita, the debut feature from Vince Sandoval, is a dramatic thriller about Donna, a reformed transgender sex worker in Manila, Philippines, who moves to the province to start a quiet, domestic life as a guardian to a young boy. When she gets involved in the town elections backing a candidate running against the well-connected mayor, Donna begins to realize that the seemingly idyllic town is not as utopian as she thought it was. First shot as a short film in 2009, Seorita has been invited to more than 15 international festivals in the UK, Morocco, South Africa, Greece, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, the US (New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis) and screened at the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival in May 2010.
The production team is made up of the brightest talents in Philippine cinema, including production designer Armi Rae Cacanindin who has worked with auteur Raya Martin (Independencia), editor Charliebebs Gohetia (Slingshot by 2009 Cannes Film Festival Best Director Brillante Mendoza), and musical scorer Teresa Barrozo (Brillante Mendozas Kinatay, winner of the best original music at the Sitges International Film Festival).
