Limmud Hungary has invited Lisa Alcalay Klug, author of that awesome party of a book, Cool Jew, to present at their annual conference in October. Its a great opportunity and Lisa is up for it, but with the current economy, cash for programming is tight. Limmud, which has been growing by leaps and bounds around the planet as a way to connect Jews of all stripes, is a volunteer non-profit. Typically, at Limmud festivals all around the world, invited presenters are provided with travel expenses. But in this case, the budget isn’t quite there…

Lisa has been donating a good chunk of her time and personal resources since her book came out for events like this and is happy to volunteer. She puts on quite an inspiring and humorous show. Its a true not to-be-missed. Her heart is really in this and, if youve been there, you know you walk out of there so happy and proud and inspired to get your Jew on…

So, some of us were thinking, why not share the love with this wonderful, hard-working Member of the Tribe. Lisa has donated so much to shining the light of how great it can be to down with who you truly are. And she has inspired so many people that now, wed like to support her presenting not only in Hungary, where her message can really make a difference in the way Jews experience and express their identity, but also in Israel, where Lisa is invited again to work her magic.

Lisa is applying for grants for her new non-profit, TolerantNation.org, to continue with all kinds of awesome programming and were still hopeful. But for now, heres the deal. This campaign wont buy her a Rolls. Or even the hot pink Harley of her dreams. But it will get her to a place that would really benefit from hearing her message. Its also a way to say thank you to a holy sistah who has been so dedicated in getting this message out to the world. At so many of her events, Lisa has shared the stage with other fabulous artists and innovators. And she is always helping other Heebsters by curating joint programs, shows, panel discussions, giveaways and more, and generously networking on behalf of others, making connections to help other people fulfill their dreams and lead richer, fuller, Jewier lives.
