The Proposal
The Word on the Street is a national outdoor literary festival that takes place in 6 Canadian cities. I would like to take part in the 17th annual Halifax The Word on the Street Festival on September 25th. 15,000 attendees are expected to visit the festival in Halifax this year. Having an exhibitor's table at this festival and doing a reading would be an incredible amount of professional exposure for me and would allow me to interact with a number of readers, which could increase my sales and fan base.

The Impact
Going to festivals and
literary conventions is imperative to my career. Regardless of the
number of sales I make on these trips, making contact with literary
publishers, fellow writers, and fans is priceless. These events fuel my
creativity, keep me excited about what's happening in literature today
and inspire me to keep writing. As a writer in PEI, I earn well below
the poverty level, so it's difficult for me to attend many festivals,
especially the bigger, more popular ones, like The Word on the Street,
that charge table fees.

A table at the convention - $300
Participation in Book Bag Treasure Hunt - $65
