The Project:
If a photo paints a thousand words, a video paints a million.  I am raising funds to purchase a video camera, lenses, and training in order to add this new dimension and level of rich information to my blog www.marketsofnewyork.com.

This blog is my business and my passion.  It tells the stories and and promotes the artisan, farmer, food and flea markets of New York City.  It is read by New Yorkers and visitors to our city who want to support local businesses, shop for high quality handmade products, try the latest food innovations, or find treasures in the city's flea and antiques markets.

Background:
My book, Markets of New York City: A Guide to the Best Artisan, Farmer, Food, and Flea Markets (Little Bookroom, 2010), came out in May of this year and sold out the first printing in just 2 months. The second printing is in the stores now.  It is clear that there is a great deal of interest in these markets, which are at the heart of innovation in design, food, and entrepreneurship. I love visiting the markets, meeting the vendors, shopping for treasures, eating some amazing food, and writing about all of it.

Why is this Project Important?
The blog is part of my business to promote the markets, the market vendors, and the creative and entrepreneurial communities in New York and other parts of the world. Videos will allow me to feature individual markets and vendors, or several at one time. People interested in finding out about the markets can watch these short videos and come away with a wonderful impression and a great sense of what to expect when they get there.

By supporting this project, you are supporting thousands of entrepreneurs by creating awareness and interest in the markets. To thank you for your participation, I am offering several VIP Perks, all related to the markets, including a customized tour of the markets with Yours Truly! I cant wait to show you around, either on video or in person!
