An award-winning writer, Sandra has written promos, shorts and feature films. Her writing talents earned her the invitation to write for Instant Films and her short film Guru Singh Cinderelli (directed by Ben Rock) screened on awards night at the festival. This led to directing, co-writing and producing the documentary-style pilot, Inside Cinema. The pilot features film composer, Aaron Zigman, (The Notebook), and journeys through his early training, personal experience and creative collaboration with Nick Cassavetes, Peter Max, Jerry Hey, among others.
Sandra has worked behind the scenes on commercials, promos, films, television shows, and commercial print ads. She sharpened her production skills on TLCs hit reality show Faking It and the breadth of her creative talent is exemplified in her work as the casting director at The Blackwell Files. While there, she cast for a diverse cross-section of high-profile ad campaigns including, Reebok, Kaiser Permanente, Volkswagen, Yahoo, Nokia. Her career has taken her across the United States and abroad. She has traveled to Bangkok, Malaysia and lived and worked in Singapore teaching screenwriting and script consulting for the Singapore Film Commission.
Ms. Salas received her MFA in Screenwriting at the American Film Institute (AFI) in 2001, earning honors and awards for her script Thrust of Power. Frank Pierson, former President of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, lauded her writing on the short film Death Mother. These days, Sandra lives in the Bay Area. She is the co-founder of Georgie Girl Pictures, an independent production company located in Berkeley. During her off hours, she can be found skateboarding with her dog Dallas.
