Jimmy Nall here, aka, Captain USA. It's been a lifelong dream of mine to sail the seven seas. I made a promise to the moon and stars, the universe, to God, years ago that I would do this and I intend to keep that promise. Most of my life I have barely scraped by with blue collar work, focusing more, on my true artistic passion of video production. I have produced travel adventure documentaries across the US, Nepal, Vietnam, and Mexico, including a documentary about my 2 seasons fishing crab on the Bering Sea like on The Deadliest Catch. I feel strongly that this journey will be the life changing work of art Ive always dreamed of creating. Either as a documentary or a reality show, I believe that this work when completed will make the world a better place by encouraging those who watch it to believe in their own dreams and rediscover the joy of exploration. That through exploration we learn to appreciate and understand the diversity that makes the world so amazing.
The first Voyage and the biggest hurdle is sailing from Florida to LA via the Panama Canal. It will be on this journey that I become Captain and earn the salt to lead a crew of artists across the seven seas for the best reality show on tv "Sailing the Seven Seas." I can't believe I'm typing this from within the V Berth of my dreamboat, the SV Shazaam! I've put everything I got into getting to this point and now that I'm here I am discovering every day how much more I need. A dinghy/liferaft, floatation device, 2 6V marine batteries in series, solar panel, VHF ship to shore radio, Depth gage, GPS, charts, horns, whistle, food, water, a pot and pan. I set sail on the 27th to Key West, Havana, Cancun, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, and back to LA. Sounds like a vacation but the more I learn about sailing, the more I realize how challenging this will be. It is a daring risky adventure I am documenting as the pitch video for a reality show. Not a survival guide Bear Grill style, more like an everyman/woman can do it, trial and error, inspiration to overcome the fear and live the dream whatever that may be. I hope to continue posting from ports along the journey updating the progress. I also have a fundraiser linked there to help raise money for the passage through the Panama Canal ($1300!) and all the port fees and supplies I need. I'm trying to raise $5000 by the end of the month. Once I return to LA, I will produce the documentary and pitch for production of the reality show.
