SOON, A LIGHT ON will be the next feature film from Mel House and Upstart Filmworks, the folks who brought you (or are shortly bringing you) CLOSET SPACE, WALKING DISTANCE, and IMAGO. We’re striving to keep things intelligent and creepy, in the vein of THE INNOCENTS, THE CHANGELING, GHOST STORY, THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE, THE OTHERS, THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE, etc. You might say we’re taking an “old-school” approach to this one.

We’d like to start production in the Spring of 2011, and are looking at shooting on location in Texas and Louisiana. Cast has not been finalized as of yet – but you can safely assume that we’ll have some “name” talent as was the case with WALKING DISTANCE and IMAGO. In fact, roles have been written specifically FOR some of those people. But I digress.

The first period of funding will serve to go towards the pre-production process, and the preliminary phases of production – securing locations, securing crew and equipment, securing the aforementioned talent, getting insured, making deposits, and generally locking down everything for our go dates before the holidays creep up on us. Then we can hit the ground running in the new year and start shooting before it gets unbearably hot. The next funding period will cover the bulk and latter stages of production (if necessary).

Perks of donating will include set visits, walk-on roles, signed memorabilia, on-screen credit, and invites to the premiere. More might be added as we get into the swing of things.
