HERE'S WHATS HAPPENED.

Smiletron is the musical brainchild of David Nugent. Using the sounds of old computers, video game consoles, and trackers, he crafts soundscapes full of rich emotion.
What started out in May of 2009 as an outlet for him to create whimsical electronic pop songs has since evolved into something far greater. Smiletron has since branched out into nearly every genre of electronic music, while still retaining his core values: spreading the joy of music free of cost and the value of simplicity. Smiletron has both earned respect among the chip musicians of the world as well as from his friends and fans.

Just recently both of David's computers were rendered unusable, one from water damage and the other from a crashed screen. This resulted in close to 2000 dollars worth of finacial damage, the loss of a fully equipped studio computer, as well as the failure of the hard drives that contained the sources files for both fan favorites as well as new music that was in the process of being composed. You may think, "He should just save up for a new one!" Unfortunately, both of these computers were gifts. This devastating turn of events has caused such a promising young electronic musician to have to start again from scratch, which as any musician knows is a truly crushing feeling. As a college student who recently was pushed back into unemployment, it is difficult if not impossible for him to recover financially, not to mention all of the time and emotion
invested in his musical endeavors. As a result of these unfortunate incidents, David has been left without the ability to finish the work he started or make the music he loves so much.

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

With your support, this humble musician can continue to write the songs that people around the world can come to enjoy; however, without help he will be unable to complete the work he has begun, and will be left without any way to complete the projects he has spent so long creating. As a strong proponent of the free sharing of music and ideas, it seems almost cruel that such a small financial setback should so utterly cripple a young musician's dreams.

WHAT WE NEED & WHAT YOU GET

All that is needed to resurrect this musician's creations is a new studio computer: the rest will fall into place from there. All money not spent on this computer will be spent towards recovering the data stored on the hard disks of the damaged computers. Every penny recieved will be funneled back into the creation of music to share with you.
